DEATH TOLL UPDATE..

LEBANON

MORE THAN 300 DEAD!

ABOUT 600 INJURED!

what a world we live in!!!!

a poem:

War and Peace

Man invents war. Man discovers peace.
He invents war from without.
He discovers peace from within.
War man throws. Peace man sows.
The smile of war is the flood of human blood.
The smile of peace is the love, below, above.

Peace is the whole truth that wishes to enrapture humanity.
War is the whole falsehood that wants to capture humanity.
Peace begins in the soul and ends in the heart.
War begins in the mind and ends in the body.

War forgets peace. Peace forgives war.
War is the death of the life human. Peace is the birth of the Life Divine.
Our vital passions want war.
Our psychic emotions desire peace.
War is clear futility in dire spear-stupidity.
Peace is flowing infinity in glowing eternity.

Man seeks war when he thinks that the world is not his.
Man invites war when he feels that he can conquer the world.
Man proclaims war when he dreams
That the world has already surrendered to him.

Man seeks peace because his earthly existence desperately needs it.
Man welcomes peace because he feels
that in peace alone is his life of achievement and fulfilment.
Man spreads peace because he wants to transcend death.

The animal in man wars against peace in the outer world,
in the world of conflicting ideas.
The divine in man wars against ignorance in the inner world,
in the world of mounting ideals.

The animal in man wants war for the sake of war,
war to devour the snoring world.
The divine in man wants peace for the sake of peace,
peace to feed the hungry world.

clippings from the news.

‘people who have made it across the 500m of no-man's land between Lebanon and Syria cross the border, carrying their belongings in hessian sacks.
A young man walks across carrying on his back all that matters to him. It is HIS FATHER.’ :-(

Daily Telegraph http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,19808256-5001021,00.html

……………………………………………………………….

‘Beirut had an eerie, empty feel, with shops closed and many residents having fled to the safety of the surrounding mountains.

For many Lebanese, there were strong memories of their country's civil war and they found themselves once more in the middle of a crisis over which they had no control.’

International Herald Tribune
http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/07/16/news/mideast.php

………………………………………………………………….

‘Israel on Saturday said it regretted causing civilian casualties in Lebanon, after its jets killed 18 civilians—including 11 children—fleeing their southern village. But it put the blame on Hezbollah, saying the militia was deliberately operating in civilian areas.’

The New Nation
http://nation.ittefaq.com/artman/publish/article_29199.shtml

………………………………………………………………….

‘Nizar Abboud, 58, from Al-Khiyam, 5km from the Israeli border, said his town was razed to the ground by the Israelis in 1978. The Lebanese rebuilt it “after liberation from Israel” and since then the population has tripled because they felt secured with Hizbullah protection. But he said “in the last 24 hours, the Israelis have systematically bombed out town with the ultimatum that all the inhabitants leave the Al-Khiyam.

Batool related the tragic story of 20 civilians massacred by the Israelis in Marwaheen. She said the villagers had gone to the UN offices for help after Israel had given them two hours to evacuate. But they were told to wait until the time ran out and then the UN refused to help. As they were leaving they were bombed by the Israeli jets. Batool was also angry at the BBC which she said was one-sided by supporting Israel. “They are giving so much time when one Israeli civilian is killed but over a hundred Lebanese civilians have been killed they hardly mention them.’

how many?!

Lebanon

79 DEAD

250 INJURED

HOW MANY MORE TO COME?!

POET

Lebanon, May God be with u ..

I’m so pissed off..
I’m so pissed off..
I’m so pissed off..
I’m so pissed off..
I’m so pissed off..
I’m so pissed off..
I’m so pissed off..!!!!!!!!!

I didn’t want to write about this at this particular time, or at least till I got over my rage!! But as much as u try,, u can’t just ignore it!!! I haven’t been out of the house, to be more specific I haven’t been out of the tv room, since Hizbullah took the two soldiers hostage. I was just waiiiiiting for the Israeli response. I knew it would be bad,, very very bad.

I am angry at Hassan Nasrallah,, y now? I have never felt this way. I feel so oppressed! I know I am very fortunate in the sense that I am not in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan or Lebanon.. but I feel so little. So powerless. So Syria is coming next, then Iran,, then who? And how many Arab/ Muslim countries will fall until someone says, hey.. maybe that’s a bit too much.

“More than 60 Lebanese have died in the Israeli offensive. The Israelis have demanded the return of the two soldiers.” BBC News.

Can anyone see how imbalanced that statement is?!!!! Or maybe its just me? Maybe 60 Arab lives are worth 2 Israeli soldiers.

I’m just too emotional at the moment I have written and deleted about 20 times.. so I’ll just leave this until I can explain what I’m trying to say better.

*Cerelac and family : I’m glad u got home after being stuck at the Syrian border for 16 hours!!!
*Looly and friends: u were the first ones out of there u cowards :-p I’m glad ur home..
*Anty Randa and family: u r very very brave. I hope u don’t get into trouble! Be safe.. plz..
*Fez and friends: hope u get home safely.
*Ofa and family: u finally got home.. thank god.
*Jojo: ur still there, plz stay home and hopefully this will be over soon.

May God be with all the Lebanese people, and everyone else who is in Lebanon at the moment.

Brain Gender Test

Heroine. i got this test from ur blog, hope u dont mind :-)

Your Brain is 73% Female, 27% Male

Your brain leans female
You think with your heart, not your head
Sweet and considerate, you are a giver
But you're tough enough not to let anyone take advantage of you!

Tradition Vs Modernity

I have always considered my family to be a more or less traditional one. Maybe not in the typical Saudi sense of tradition, but in comparison with my aunts' and uncles' families atleast, they were. (ok to those who know me, i study in London where i live without parents i know, but i told u who i'm comparing them to) However, when it comes to marriage, my family is very un-Saudi, if that is a word! lol

I'll give u some examples, if there is an intention of marriage, it is important that the girl gets to know her future husband (and vice versa) beforehand. And I don't mean after the engagement is official. I mean before that, they meet up and talk on the phone and stuff, before deciding upon an engagement. To any non-Arabs or shall I say non-Khaleejis (residence of the Gulf states) reading this, u might be thinking DUUH!! But in Saudi Arabia, this is not the way it goes. U can pray to be lucky enough to talk to ur fiance on the phone before the "milka" (the official signing of the papers which makes u a legally married couple).

For this reason, I was always against the idea of a traditional marriage, to me it was absurd to marry someone (be it on paper or actually moving in together) whom u barely know! This is probably due to my upbringing! HOWEVER, I stumbled upon a blog where the main character IBRAHIM, and his "co-star" IBRAHIM'S MUM, go in search of the perfect wife. At the beginning I thought C'mon man this is ridiculous, u don't even know the girl ur after, ur just after,, well,, ANYONE! As I read on (which I spent all night doing by the way) I LOVED the story. And it made me think, maybe I shouldn't be so judgmental! It is the norm after all. YES, we do have a high rate of divorce in Saudi, but this story ended happily and I hope it stays that way.

It still doesn't make me want to get married in the traditional sense, but I did think it was a nice story, and very educational actually! lol

unfortunately (for those who do not speak Arabic) that is the language it is written in. If u r an Arabic reader though, plz plz visit this blog, and re-live this man's story.

is it Very interesting! Enjoy..
